DESIGN THE FUTURE WITH A GLOBAL TEAM OF EXPERTS
We are looking for a Tunnel Engineer to join our global team of experts and work closely within our local Singapore team. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of tunnel design solutions within the water, wastewater, and transit sectors. In addition, you will also support our signature water and transportation projects located across the globe.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for:
- Analysis and design of bored tunnel, mined tunnel, or Cut & Cover tunnel, shaft, TBM face pressure etc including writing design report
- Review engineering and analysis for the design of tunnels and shafts in soft ground, mixed conditions and rock (primary support and final lining) which will include the use of various tunnel construction methods such as drill and blast, sequential excavation method (SEM), or TBM
- Interpret and organise design results into project documentation such as Technical Memos, Geotechnical Data, Interpretive, or Baseline Reports, or Basis of Design reports
- Coordinate with other leading engineers to facilitate staff engagement and adequate on-the-job training of the design and delivery teams
- Characterise and classify ground conditions for different tunnelling methods based on geotechnical information
- Communicate design work through preparation of drawing sketches indicating support types, geometry, construction sequencing, and instrumentation
- Use tunnel analysis and design software such as FLAC/FLAC3D, Phase2, Plaxis, Staad Pro/SAP2000 and/or others
- Work in multidisciplinary teams for delivery of small, medium, and large-scale projects
- Ensuring that design, assessments and checking of designs are in accordance with the current Standards, Codes of Practice and Best Practice
- Review/checking/approval of designs, assessments and calculations in accordance with quality procedures
- Coordination of work undertaken by external sub-contractors and design checkers and Client management

Furthermore, you should have:
- Bachelor of Science (or Master of Science preferred) in Underground Construction / Tunnelling, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering combined with 3+ years of related experience in the tunnel and/or underground infrastructure
- Hold a recognised Engineering degree by Professional Engineering Board (Singapore)
- Strong technical expertise in the design and construction of tunnels, shafts and other similar underground structures.
- A high level of proficiency in 2D and 3D geo-structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, Plaxis, FLAC3D, UDEC, SWedge, UnWedge, SNAIL or similar programs.
- Have experience of working in a design environment in Singapore (mandatory)
- Leadership capabilities proven by past supervisory roles
- Good time-management skills, ability to multi-task, and ability to sustain focus on longer tasks
- Ability to work across different geographical areas including distributed work centres
- Ability and willingness to travel
- Have sound understanding of DfS Regulations, specifically the designer's requirements and the risk assessment process
- Have experience in designing of Bored tunnel and mined tunnel (mandatory)
- Have experience in the civil engineering and underground construction sectors - both on site and in design office is preferred
- Have ability to manage small projects and interface with other disciplines
