We are currently seeking a dynamic individual fluent in Mandarin Chinese to join the Education team as an Executive, specialized in translation and training. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting engaging tours with our guests, designing educational programs, and training the team to deliver educational tours in Mandarin.


Responsibilities

  • Conceptualise, develop and implement Educational programmes that align with the Education, Research and Conservation (ERC) strategy of the S.E.A. Aquarium/Singapore Oceanarium.
  • Assist in the creation of Mandarin-specific educational materials and resources related to S.E.A. Aquarium/Singapore Oceanarium.
  • Provide English to Mandarin translation for S.E.A. Aquarium/Singapore Oceanarium’s written materials, programme and educational content to cater to guests.
  • Interact with S.E.A. Aquarium/Singapore Oceanarium guests by sharing knowledge about marine animals and their habitats, and address guests concerns whenever necessary to enhance the experience.
  • Conduct Educational Tours and public programmes, to allow guests to have an in-depth learning experience, and provide insightful information about animals and their habitat which may not be found anywhere else in the aquarium. This includes facilitating overnight camps, scavenger hunts and programmes that may be conducted in Mandarin.
  • Conduct training sessions and provide continuous support to team members for the execution of immersive, world-class institutional learning experiences, classroom programs, and public initiatives which will be conducted in both English and Mandarin.
  • Perform any other ad-hoc duties as assigned.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science, Education, Linguistics, Translation and Interpretation, Chinese Studies, or any relevant discipline.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese.
  • Minimum 1-year of education experience preferred.
  • Good customer service skills and positive work attitude.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Prior background in Marine, Environmental Science or Aquatic Ecology will be an advantage.
  • Experience in tour facilitation or guide in a museum, aquarium or zoological facility will be an advantage.
  • Strong copywriting or science communication background will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work on rostered shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
