What gets you springing out of bed every morning? For us in Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s Programmes team, it’s having the opportunity to serve the less fortunate by creating a decent place for them to call home.

At our local programme - Project HomeWorks, we work with vulnerable persons and families in Singapore who need help to transform their homes into a safe and sanitary state. We assist homeowners through a series of intensive half-day sessions powered by staff and volunteers, providing a combination of one or more of the following services depending on the need: Pest control, painting, intensive cleaning and re-organising.

This work involves:

  • Liaising with referring partners- usually social workers from government agencies, VWOs;
  • Co-creating solutions with homeowners during home visits;
  • Equipping and inspiring volunteers from all walks of life to join in the work;
  • Managing project logistics and operations;
  • Documenting project details and expenses.

For the Programme Executive position, we are looking for someone who:

  • Is willing to uphold the principles (vision and mission) of Habitat for Humanity Singapore (Pls refer to https://www.habitat.org.sg/about-us for details.)
  • Possesses strong organising skills with a good eye for detail;
  • Possesses good people relations skills in engaging beneficiaries, volunteers and partners;
  • Has a self-driven, mature personality and works well in team settings;
  • Has a reasonably fit and healthy physique as work can be physically demanding.

You will also need to be:

  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications and email
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • The job involves interaction with beneficiaries who may only speak Mandarin. Knowledge of basic conversational Mandarin is essential.
  • Able to work on some weekends, usually 1 to 2 Saturdays per month

It’s a plus if you:

  • Are conversant in a third language (dialects, and/or Malay)
  • Possess a valid Class 3A driving license

This is an entry-level position. Coupled with Habitat for Humanity's status as a charity, applicants should enjoy working for altruistic purposes, and have the right expectations with regard to remuneration and benefits. You must also be willing to communicate and affirm Habitat's principles.
