We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Center Facilities Operations Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data center facilities management, with expertise in maintaining and optimizing critical infrastructure components to ensure the reliability, availability, and efficiency of data center operations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the data center facilities, including monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance activities to ensure the reliability and performance of data center infrastructure, including power distribution units (PDUs), backup generators, cooling towers, and chillers.
- Implement and maintain environmental controls and monitoring systems to ensure optimal conditions for data center equipment, including temperature, humidity, and airflow.
- Manage data center access controls and security measures, including surveillance systems, biometric scanners, and physical barriers, to safeguard against unauthorized access and ensure compliance with security standards.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers to procure equipment, manage contracts, and schedule maintenance and repairs for data center facilities.
- Respond to incidents and service requests related to data center facilities operations, including power outages, equipment failures, and environmental alarms, and resolve them in a timely manner to minimize downtime and impact on business operations.
- Document procedures, processes, and configurations related to data center facilities operations, including inventory management, change management, and incident response, to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in capacity planning and expansion projects to support the growth of data center infrastructure, including rack installations, cable management, and equipment upgrades.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, facilities, and security, to ensure alignment of data center facilities operations with organizational goals and objectives.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in data center facilities management and make recommendations for improvements and enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data center facilities operations, infrastructure management, or related field.
- Strong technical skills in managing electrical and mechanical systems, including power distribution, backup power, cooling, and environmental controls.
- Familiarity with data center standards and best practices, such as TIA-942, ANSI/BICSI, and Uptime Institute Tier Standards.
- Experience with data center management tools and software for monitoring, asset tracking, and capacity planning.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
- Relevant certifications such as CDCMP (Certified Data Center Management Professional) or DCFM (Data Center Facilities Management) preferred.
