Laser Operations Supervisor

BKR Engineering is a pioneer in Singapore offering laser cleaning services, a state-of-the-art technology that supports a more effective and sustainable way of surface preparation. We are seeking a Laser Operations Supervisor to oversee and manage laser operations within our organization. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient use of laser technology.


To be successful as a laser operations supervisor you should have a good understanding of English and a positive attitude to learn. Having a certificate in laser technology, engineering, or a related field, as well as at least 5 years of experience as a supervisor ideally in construction and sand/grit blasting industry. Experience in operating lasers is a plus but not mandatory. You should also have a valid N3 license issued by the National Environment Agency (NEA), or be able to obtain one within three months of employment. You should be able to learn advanced knowledge of laser cleaning principles, techniques, and equipment, as well as excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. You should also be able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. Most importantly, ability to work safely and guide your subordinates to work safely should be your core value.


Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Technicians: Lead and guide a team of technicians responsible for operating laser equipment. Provide training, support, and performance feedback.
  • Deep Understanding of Laser Cleaning Operations: Possess an in-depth knowledge of laser cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and best practices. Training will be provided.
  • Gatekeeper for Settings Adjustments: Monitor and control laser settings, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to project requirements. No technicians shall be allowed to adjust any setting without your approval.
  • Blasting Experience (Preferred): Prior experience with abrasive blasting or similar techniques is advantageous.
  • Laser Experience (Desirable): While not mandatory, familiarity with laser systems and their maintenance is a definite plus.
  • Class 3 Driving License (Advantageous): Having a valid class 3 driving license is beneficial, especially for fieldwork or transportation needs.
  • NEA N3 License (Desirable): Although not mandatory, candidates who already possesses N3 license will be given preference. Being able to obtain an NEA N3 license within 3 months of employment is mandatory.
  • Oil and Gas Environment Experience (Strong Plus): Previous work in the oil and gas industry or construction industry is highly valued.
  • Part-Time Contract with Conversion Potential: This position starts as a part-time contract role, but exceptional performance may lead to a full-time permanent position.


Work Schedule and Location:

  • Irregular Hours: The work hours for this position may be irregular, depending on project demands. Flexibility is essential. Work schedule for the following week will be provided in the prior week.
  • Minimum Availability: You are expected to be available to serve at least 20 hours per week.
  • Field-Based: The primary work location shall be in the field, at customer sites.


Minimum Requirements:

  • GCE “O” level English pass, or equivalent
  • Ability to converse in English
  • Valid N3 license issued by the National Environment Agency (NEA), or ability to obtain one within 3 months of employment
  • Valid Class 3 drivers’ licence
  • Strong advocator of safe working culture, champions environmental and safety regulations and company quality standards, leads by example
  • Having a positive attitude and ability to learn knowledge of laser cleaning principles, techniques, and equipment
  • Excellent leadership skills, able to guide technicians to adopt a positive work attitude
  • Ability to use MS Office suite of tools such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Physically fit, ability to perform manual labour work
  • Willingness to be sent for training as directed by the company
  • Ability to train and supervise other laser cleaning operators
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possessing prior knowledge or certification of laser technology is a plus but not mandatory
  • Past experience operating Class 4 lasers is a plus but not mandatory
  • Possess forklift licence is a plus but not mandatory
  • Able to wear company-prescribed PPE
  • Able to wear contact lenses(if required), due to the need to wear laser safety glasses
  • Probation period applicable
  • Reporting to Operations Manager


Remuneration

  • Salary range P/T: 15-25 SGD/h
  • Salary range F/T(60h work week): 2500-5000 SGD per month incl. overtime and annual variable bonus
  • Probation period applicable
