People & Culture Specialist

The Good Protein Network Limited

People & Culture Specialist

The Good Food Institute APAC (GFI APAC) is at the forefront of the movement to use food technology to solve some of the world’s biggest problems, from climate change and global hunger, to antibiotic resistance and the exploitation of animals. We are developing the roadmap for a sustainable, secure, and just protein supply, making sustainable proteins accessible, affordable and delicious. Please check out our website and Year In Review to find out more about who we are, what we do, and why.

We are looking for a People & Culture Specialist based in Singapore to support the Asia Pacific operations team as we build out our programmes and impact.

How You Will Make a Difference

GFI APAC’s Operations Team manages finance, human resources, and legal compliance for the regions where GFI APAC operates, and provides administrative support to our programmatic experts who work in SciTech, Policy, Corporate Engagement, and Communications. In collaboration with our Associate Director of Operations, you will have the opportunity to emphasize a positive workplace culture aligned with GFI APAC’s core values and mission, ensure employee engagement, and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Reporting to our Associate Director of Operations, you will:

  • Be responsible for all HR operations, including staff enrollment and exit, leave records, payroll, CPF contributions, labor benefits, and other statutory processes.
  • Lead the hiring processes, including advertising and promoting roles, corresponding with candidates, and setting up assessments.
  • Elevate and optimise existing HR systems and processes, and keep all internal policies up to date.
  • Develop and implement organizational culture plans to foster a work environment where employees feel valued, engaged, motivated, and a strong sense of belonging.
  • Organise staff engagement activities in collaboration with other members of the Operations Team.
  • Design and execute periodic employee surveys, and conduct annual performance reviews in collaboration with departmental management
  • Support staff’s individual development processes in coordination with departmental management, explore learning resources, and lead cyclical 1:1 professional development check-ins with all employees.
  • Provide internal training to employees and managers on various people and culture topics, emphasizing continuous learning, and developing informational guides.
  • Develop career progression policies and enhance our staff retention efforts.
  • Act as the team's confidant, address any HR-related inquiries from the team, and provide guidance to managers on employees’ inquiries.
  • Contribute to compiling the monthly internal newsletter on HR topics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned as a member of our small, dynamic team.

Who We Are Looking For

As our People & Culture Specialist, we want you to have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of experience in HR management or a related field. Prior experience working in a startup, nonprofit, and/or remote work environment is an advantage.
  • Experience in developing and executing programs for employee engagement and other initiatives to enhance organisational culture.
  • Experience in supervisor training and optimisation of departmental collaborations.
  • Experience in successfully handling employee relations and performance management issues.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and interpersonal skills. A proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, showing sensitivity and respect for different perspectives, values, cultures, religions, and customs.
  • Strong attention to detail; proficient prioritisation and time management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Google Workspace (Docs, Meet, Sheets, Slides) and Asana experience is a plus.
  • Comfort working flexibly both remote and onsite, and in a rapidly growing and evolving organisation - the ability to work well independently and under pressure.
  • Strong support for GFI’s philosophy and mission; demonstrated interest in alternative proteins, public health, environmentalism, sustainability, animal protection, or hunger relief.
  • A commitment to GFI’s values: believe change is possible, do the best we can, share knowledge freely, act on evidence, and invite everyone to the table.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

We want the best people, and we don’t want biases holding us back. We strongly encourage people of every race, orientation, age, gender, origin, and ability to apply. Because we value a diverse workplace, we prioritise an inclusive climate absent of discrimination and harassment during the application process and after you join the team.
