We are currently seeking a System Engineer to join our Libraries and Education team who can help to build out, maintain, and troubleshoot customers’ infrastructure.
As a successful applicant, you will demonstrate excellent technical competence, reliability in delivering critical infrastructure, and continually ensure the highest levels of accessibility, optimisation, and security along with strong background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.

- 4 to 6 years of experience in system administration, including installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows server-based environments, Active Directory, GPO, anti-virus etc, as well Linux based servers running on Ubuntu.
- Experience with Azure
- Strong networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS)
- Knowledge with SQL Server administration
- Experienced in virtualisation and containerisation (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V)
- Able to administer and perform tuning of application stacks (e.g. Tomcat, Apache, NGINX)
- Hands-on experience with scripting is highly regarded
A day in the life…
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Oversight of infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software, network appliances and system management tools
- provide 2nd and 3rd level support and managing tickets
- You will work with developers to implement and deploy fixes and security vendors to resolve security audit issues and perform hardening on server infrastructure
- Continual management and maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies, as well as monthly patch deployment and firmware upgrades
- Manage the renewal of licenses and certificates for server appliances
