The successful candidate will report to an office located in Singapore with an expectation of 35% travel around South and Southeast Asia and occasionally, the US. The Bakery Technologist will receive significant training in wheat foods production and processes, leading to an eventual ability to provide technical support and training to industry participants. The Bakery Technologist will be expected to make consistent progress toward independently engaging in the following activities:
· Visit flour mills and food processors in the South and Southeast Asia Region to offer in-plant technical consultations;
· Identify problems facing flour millers, bakers and consumers, developing and communicating solutions;
· Provide theoretical and hands-on technical services to industry partners;
· Design and conduct high quality technical seminars, short courses, workshops; create and provide technical education (including reports and presentations).
The successful Bakery Technologist will also build and maintain relationships within the industry, governments, and other stakeholders to include:
· Establish and maintain strong working relationships with flour mills, wheat buyers, food processors, and commercial bakeries through consistent contact, technical support, and training activities;
· Develop relationships with government agencies; be familiar with government rules, policies and regulations related to the wheat import and food safety law, etc.;
· Maintain and explore cooperation with international educational partners and regional partners;
· Visit flour mills to explore future opportunities and new collaborative relationships;
· Establish professional networks while hosting/attending conferences and during work-related activities.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, engineering or related field.
Starting salary range will be SGD $4,000 - $5,500/month based on experience and abilities.
