Service Desk Engineer
Working Locations: Client side or Head Office (Bartley/Tai Seng MRT)
Working Hours: Follow client operating hours/9am-6pm at Head Office
Job Description:
Helpdesk
- Provide first level contact and convey resolutions to customer issues
- Properly escalate unresolved queries to the next level of support
- Track, route and redirect problems to correct resources
- Update customer data and produce activity reports
- Follow up with customers, provide feedback and see problems through to resolution
- Recommended procedure modifications or improvements
NOC
- Continuously monitor network infrastructure for performance and security issues using network management tools and systems.
- Respond to alerts and incidents, diagnose problems, and take corrective actions to minimize network disruptions.
- Investigate network issues, conduct root cause analysis, and collaborate with other teams to resolve complex problems.
- Perform routine network maintenance tasks, such as firmware updates, patch management, and configuration changes.
- Escalate critical incidents to higher-level support or specialized teams as needed and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain comprehensive records of network incidents, changes, and resolutions for future reference and reporting.
- Monitor network security events and respond to potential threats, working closely with the cybersecurity team.
- Monitor network traffic and capacity utilization, providing input for capacity upgrades and optimization.
Optical and Transmission
- Design and plan DWDM network infrastructure to support high-capacity, long-distance optical communications.
- Configure and maintain DWDM equipment, including optical transmitters, receivers, multiplexers, and amplifiers.
- Manage the allocation and optimization of optical wavelengths within the DWDM network to maximize bandwidth utilization.
- Perform optical link budget calculations and engineering to ensure signal quality and reliability across long-haul fiber-optic links.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to DWDM equipment, optical signals, and network performance.
- Implement optical network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and data interception.
- Collaborate with network engineers, system engineers, and other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of DWDM technology into the overall network infrastructure.
Infra (Network & System)
- Design, plan, and implement network infrastructure to meet the organization's requirements and goals, including hardware, software, and network components, to meet project requirements.
- Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment to ensure optimal network performance and security.
- Continuously monitor network performance, troubleshoot network issues, and proactively address potential problems.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
- Integrate various hardware and software components into a unified system, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
- Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans to validate system functionality and performance.
- Diagnose and resolve system issues, collaborating with other teams as needed.
- Perform regular system maintenance tasks and coordinate system upgrades and patches.
Requirements:
- Diploma with 3 yrs experience, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of networking principles, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Experience with network monitoring tools and technologies (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, packet capture analysis).
