Job Title: Lead Systems Engineer - Windows Migration (subject matter of expert)
Position Overview
The Snr Systems Engineer manages the systems administration function and leads theorganisation's system projects and environments. They focus on setting goals and priorities and onmentoring and coordination as well as providing technical leadership. The Systems Engineer alsoplans and oversees systems upgrades and migrations and ensures systems are up to date with thelatest patches and are coherent across the organisation. They direct the development andmaintenance of technical documentation as well as possessing strong communication abilities and isable to set realistic goals and implement appropriate plans to guide the team toward achievingthose goals. Also, able to address multi-faceted issues effectively and in a collaborative mannerincluding across departments.
Role & Responsibilities
Set system administration processes
- Establish goals and priorities, design, planning, day-to-day operation, maintenance, andadvanced troubleshooting of systems.
- Align system administration with overall strategic IT service direction and business needs.
- Assist with the development of business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses forspending and initiatives.
- Anticipate internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues.
- Develop policies, procedures, and controls to ensure system security.
Develop New Systems
- Partner with stakeholders to recommend innovative and automated approaches forsystem administration.
- Define systems requirements for new technology implementations
- Prepare for system expansion by studying plans and requirements
- Oversee the design, maintenance and implementation of the systems
- Prioritise tasks to ensure projects are implemented in accordance with project plans and budgets.
Optimise Systems Performance
- Recommend process, product or service improvements, resource optimisation and costsavings.
- Oversee hardware and software upgrades.
- Recommend new technologies, methodologies, systems or opportunities for cost savings,security and service quality improvement.
Requirements
- Experience in Windows System administration, load balancer.
- Knowledge in application support such as IIS web services.
- Familiar with Windows and IIS hardening based on industry standard.
- Good personality and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Result oriented and good team player.
- This is an SME role in systems preferably to have experience in Windows server migrationto newer version.
- Experience or have the understanding of the know how in setting up virtualisation serverlike VMware is advantageous.
- Someone who can drive projects as a Subject Matter of Expert.
