About the Role

As a Senior Landscape Architect you will be responsible for managing mid-scale, or aspects of large-scale landscape projects in the local and overseas, across multiple sectors, and through all design stages.


Key Responsibilities


Design/Technical Expertise


  • Delivers high quality design and/or technical work, engaging others with their creative and innovative thinking.


Project Management


  • Demonstrates a detailed understanding of the design process and project brief, coordinating the preparation of the project deliverables and other activities related to the project development.
  • Takes responsibility for quality control and supervision of project deliverables.
  • Coordinates and integrates the work of external contractors, suppliers and professionals.


Team Management


  • Leads by example – showcasing innovative approaches & fostering culture of creativity & professionalism.
  • Role models Uncommon Land’s values and contributes towards a collaborative environment in which innovation is encouraged and best practice shared. Emphasizes communication and nurtures the culture of continuous learning & and development.
  • Builds a network across the business and seeks leadership opportunities by directing and supporting junior team members.
  • Inspires and guides junior team members to achieve their full potential in design and technical proficiency.


Client Relationships


  • Develops effective relationships with clients and consultants.
  • Supports Directors & Associate Directors with Client presentations, making a positive contribution towards project meetings and Client engagements.


Budget Control


  • Takes responsibility for aspects of the project budget, and liaises with stakeholders to ensure delivery.
  • Seeks to develop a working understanding of cost control, fee charging and project finance, and considers how project fees are maximised without threat to client relationship and repeat work.


About You


  • 5+ years of experience in Landscape Architecture, ideally with Mixed-Use and/or Hospitality projects;
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from reputable University;
  • Creative candidate who is capable of leading landscape projects from Concept to Construction.
  • Experience in liaison with Clients, Consultants, Contractors and Suppliers;
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently as well as a team;
  • Experience in leading small team of Junior Landscape Architects, including work distribution, monitoring and making sure the tasks are completed on time and to required quality;
  • Experience in Project Management including preparing project plans, understanding financial side of projects and timelines;
  • Manage multiple projects of large scope & scale.
  • Excellent graphics, strong design and communication skills are essential;
  • Strong sketching skills and ability to communicate the ideas via hand sketches/drawings;
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator), AutoCAD, Rhino, Enscape & Lumion, SketchUp, MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint). Knowledge of Revit would be a plus but not essential;
  • Demonstrates creative thinking abilities and contributes to firm wide design excellence and problem solving.
  • Must be mature, well organized, confident and hardworking with a pleasant disposition and strong interpersonal skills and able to multi-task;
  • Strong knowledge of tropical and sub-tropical plant materials and experienced in Planting Design;
  • Willing and able to occasionally travel overseas;
  • Outstanding work ethic.
