The Role

The position holder will be responsible for supporting teaching duties in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology to ensure smooth operation of Life Science and Medical classes. He/she will ensure the smooth operations and safety compliance of the Department's research and core activities as well as support the Principal Investigator (PI) in laboratory and grant management.

Job Description

  • To provide technical support for laboratory practical classes and invigilation duties
  • To ensure practical materials are prepared well and punctually for conducting the practical classes assigned
  • To assist in lab set up and lab clean-up for and after practical classes assigned
  • To conduct CAs and examinations fairly and smoothly
  • To assist in the lab safety management system and safety certification audit
  • To provide support in safety events and laboratory inspections
  • To support in the daily operations, maintenance and upkeep of the laboratories and core facilities
  • To maintain core laboratory equipment inventory and management of BCP
  • To assist in laboratory procurement and vendor engagement
  • To assist in processing financial documents, submission of claims
  • To provide support in lab and grant management, procurement and equipment maintenance
  • To ensure that lab procurement is done in a timely manner, track order and delivery

Qualifications

  • Diploma in life science or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of relevant working experience
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety management will be an advantage
  • A good team player and able to work independently
  • Desire to learn new skills as well as take on new responsibilities
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, e.g. Microsoft Office Word, Excel & PowerPoint
