JOB SUMMARY

Excelerate seeks an experienced and skilled Vessel Superintendent (VSI)to join our team in Singapore and take on the responsibility for ensuring high safety, technical and operational standards for the vessels. This is a critical role within the organization, in maintaining operational excellence and compliance with Company policies and Industry standards and regulations.

The selected VSI will be responsible for FSRU’s currently operating offshore Bangladesh. He/she will manage the technical integrity of the vessel within the context of ongoing regasification operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all Excelerate Energy HSEQ policies and procedures, helping to provide safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own personnel.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for the vessels, support the finance department with regular updated forecasts.
  • In cooperation with Supply Chain and keeping the challenging importation process into account, carefully plan the delivery of spare parts and stores to the FSRU’s to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Manage and oversee all vessel and machinery system-based activities directly related to the management and safe operation of all assigned vessels.
  • Prepare and conduct periodic safety and technical audits, vetting of vessels as well as tracking and reporting status of incident investigations.
  • Ensure timely approvals, reviews and archiving of all Risk Assessments, relevant Management of Change processes and crewing issues.
  • Render timely technical and marine engineering advice and assist in shipping operations to ensure reliable, safe and cost-efficient operations.
  • Achieve industry-wide best standards for vessel operations, dry docking, repairs and performance by application of statistical analysis on repair periods, frequency and timing of repairs. Monitor fuel and oil consumption, equipment failure and spare part replacement rates.
  • Monitor the system of planned maintenance while ensuring it is maintained, up-to-date and compliant with regulatory, company and industry (TMSA) requirements.
  • Ensure all annual plans (maintenance and operations) are managed in accordance with agreed budgets and financial approvals.
  • Ensure that vessels are ready at all times for SIRE inspections and any other third-party audits or inspections, including diligence of fleet spares and inventory control.

COMMUNICATION:

  • Ensure system failures, non-conformities or deficiencies are reported and timely corrective actions are planned and implemented.
  • Prepare and follow up on vessel requirements and logistics in close collaboration with Supply Chain Management.
  • Update management and finance department with regular budget updates.
  • Act as primary point of contact between FSRU, classification societies and Flag administration.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Chief Engineer or Second Engineer (Steam and/or Motor) Certificate of Competency with sea service on LNG tankers in a senior role.
  • Preferably 18 months of service in a senior position on an LNG tanker and/or petroleum tanker and/or shore-side experience as a Technical Superintendent or similar position for LNG vessels.
  • FSRU on board service and/or shore-side support is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations including SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, MLC.
  • Experience with the NSE planned maintenance system and SAP is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage the vessel’s crew and help create an inclusive and efficient working environment.
  • A strong commitment to safety and the ability to lead by example during ship visits.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication to interact with diverse stakeholders and convey complex information clearly.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to travel abroad around 10 % of the time. Position requires ability to be ‘on call’ including nights and weekends.
