On behalf of one of its clients, a consultancy company in Engineering & Technology, the French Chamber of Commerce is looking for a Principal Consultant in Forensic Engineering (FE) and Failure Analysis (FA).
Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Materials & Corrosion Engineer to fill the role of Principal Consultant in Forensic Engineering and Failure Analysis.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience in diagnosing and resolving engineering failure cases through fundamental application of engineering and material science knowledge.
This position offers exposure to a diverse range of industries including oil and gas, marine, utilities, aerospace, and insurance, and entails contributing to commercial and industrial development as well as participating in research and development initiatives within Group.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing or directly performing:
- Failure analysis and forensic investigations to determine the root causes of machinery/equipment failures, industrial accidents, and fires/explosions.
- Consultancy services related to engineering, materials, and corrosion issues.
- Site inspections to assess and evaluate the physical and metallurgical integrity of equipment/facilities using various engineering inspection techniques.
- Asset integrity management tasks such as risk-based inspection (RBI), remaining life assessment (RLA), and fitness for service assessment (FFS).
- Serving as an expert witness in litigation and insurance claim cases.
- Conducting training courses on failure analysis and materials/corrosion.
- Identifying and validating research and development projects pertaining to engineering, materials, and corrosion.
- Developing industrial relations within the ASEAN region in fields such as forensic engineering, failure analysis, corrosion, and cathodic protection through sharing experiences via technical papers, conferences, and engineering consultancy.
- Collaborating closely with the team in France.
Requirements
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in engineering and materials failure cases.
- Bachelor/Master degree or higher in Material Science, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in editing technical reports to international standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of various damage and failure mechanisms prevalent in the oil and gas industry.
- Self-motivated, confident, and capable of working independently as well as leading a team.
- Willingness to work both on-site and in the laboratory.
- Basic knowledge of the French language will be an added advantage to collaborate with the team in France.
