Job Description: Science Laboratory Technician/Administrative Assistant
Location: Cedar Primary School, 15 Cedar Avenue, Singapore 349700
Duration: April 1, 2024, to December 31, 2025 (with option to extend)
Hours:
- Mondays to Thursdays: 7:00 am to 4:30 pm (inclusive of 1-hour lunch break)
- Fridays: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm (inclusive of 1-hour lunch break)
- Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Science Laboratory Support:
- Facilitate inquiry-based learning for Science subjects.
- Ensure smooth operations of two science laboratories, prioritizing hands-on learning experiences.
- Aid teachers in preparing materials and apparatus for science practical lessons and assessments.
- Manage, operate, and maintain science laboratories and related learning environments (e.g., school garden and science corners).
- Procure equipment and materials, maintain an inventory list of consumables, and monitor inventory levels.
- Oversee laboratory safety protocols and may be required to serve as a certified first aider.
- Provide assistance during classes, workshops, and events, ensuring logistical support and supervising safe use of laboratory tools.
- Administrative Support:
- Perform general office duties including reception duties, handling telephone calls, attending to students, parents, and visitors, updating sick bay records, photocopying documents, filing, and managing inventory and stationery replenishment.
Execute any other duties as assigned by School Leaders/Administrative Manager.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Singapore citizen or Permanent Resident
- NITEC Diploma or GCE 'O' Level Certificate
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a lab technician in a primary school setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- Capability to handle live specimens, such as insects and chemicals, adhering to safety guidelines
- Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
