Executive Director (under Sun Ray Scheme)

We are current looking for a highly skilled Executive Director for our social service agency (SSA) to help us fulfil this important undertaking. The Executive Director is responsible for developing and implementing strategies aimed to promote the organisation’s vision, mission and values. He/she is responsible for building an effective team of leaders to achieve the goals and objectives determined by the Board.

Responsibilities

Leadership

·Participate with the Board in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organisation

·Identify, assess, and inform the Board of Management of internal and external issues that affect the organisation

·Act as a professional advisor to the Board of Management on all aspects of the organisation's activities

·In addition to the Chair of the Board, act as a spokesperson for the organisation

·Represent the organisation at community and publicity activities to enhance the organisation's community profile

Operational Planning and Management

·Develop an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction, proper governance and financial sustainability of the organisation

·Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organisation, and ensure that it meets the expectations of its clients, Board and stakeholders

·Draft policies for the approval of the Board and prepare procedures to implement the policies

·Review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes to the Board when necessary

Human Resources Planning and Management

·Determine staffing requirements for organisational management and programme delivery

·Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures and practices including the development of job descriptions and training programmes

·Recruit, interview and select staff who have the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organisation's mission

·Implement a performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring staff performance on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review

Financial Planning and Management

·Work with staff and the Board to prepare a comprehensive budget

·Work with the Board to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organisation

·Research funding sources, oversee the development of fund-raising plans and write funding proposals to increase the funds of the organisation

·Ensure that sound book-keeping and accounting procedures are followed

·Administer the funds of the organisation according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organisation

·Provide the Board with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenues and expenditure of the organisation

Community Relations/Advocacy

·Communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the organisation and to identify changes in the community served by the organisation

·Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, and other organisations to help achieve the goals of the organisation

Qualifications

Education:

·At least a Bachelor’s degree.

Experience:

  • At least 7 years in senior management roles including staff supervision, human resources, fundraising and finance.
  • Proven track record of attracting resources and partnerships and managing external relations.
  • Facilitative and collaborative leadership style. Proven ability to work in a dynamic team and build working partnerships. Can flexibly share leadership and buil consensus. When necessary, can take initiative and make tough decisions.
  • Success supervising and mentoring staff and supporting professional and leadership development. Excellent people skills.

Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to attend community meetings, training events and agency meetings.

Sun Ray Scheme

Sun Ray is a centralised scheme administered by NCSS to develop individuals who have strong leadership qualities to lead professional practices and agencies in the social service sector.

To enable a holistic development. there will be structured rotation across social service agencies in different sub-sectors to provide individuals with cross-organisational exposure and support. The exposure will enable those on the Sun Ray to develop broader sector perspectives and gain deep sector knowledge to help the social service agencies that they are deployed to build capabilities and capacity.

We are looking for individuals with strong motivation and leadership capabilities to lead agencies or professional practices to achieve social impact in the social service sector.
