About the Role
This is your opportunity to join one of the world's leading reinsurers and work with a multi-jurisdictional and diverse team of legal & compliance professionals. The Legal Counsel shall manage legal and compliance issues relating to Swiss Re's operations in Asia with specific focus on Japan.
- Be a trusted, strategic partner to the business by providing timely, high quality legal advice and clearly articulating legal risks and opportunities;
- Draft and review of legal documents in relation to business transactions and initiatives;
- Identify and mitigate legal risks in new business models and initiatives;
- Apply legal practices, procedures and controls that are efficient and effective and comply with Group guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements;
- Manage compliance risks including establishing appropriate frameworks and processes;
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments in Japan and analyze their impact on Swiss Re;
- Assist on regulatory issues in Japan, including regulatory inspections and onsite reviews;
- Enhance corporate governance particularly relating to operation of the branches in Japan;
- Manage legal advice related to general corporate matters, with a strong focus on corporate structure, regulatory and licensing matters;
- Participate in Group and regional projects and other relevant tasks;
- Apply highest ethical standards and maintain independence as a lawyer.
About the Team
You will work with a multi-jurisdictional and diverse team of legal & compliance professionals operating in a global organization and culturally diverse environment to provide legal advice to support Swiss Re's businesses and operations, while safeguarding sound governance standards.
About You
- Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in law
- 8 years or above work experience in financial institutions or law firms
- Good communication and cross-cultural skills, fluent in English and Japanese
- Solid understanding of Japanese laws and regulations relevant to Swiss Re
- Familiar with global/local financial industry's regulatory trend. FSA interaction experience preferred.
