Job Role Description

Senior Student Care Facilitators are responsible for creating a safe and supportive learning environment for students, managing their behaviour, and effectively communicating with parents and stakeholders. They are responsible for ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times in the Student Care Centre, facilitating and guiding children in their daily routines, activities, and programs. They implement daily class activities, document student activities, progress, and behaviour, track student activities, and collaborate with colleagues within student care and from various sectors to support students with specific needs.


They build rapport with parents and serve as the first point-of-contact for parents in all matters related to the child, effectively communicating with parents and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is proactive and pre-emptive, striving for an incident-free and accident-free student care centre.


The Senior Student Care Facilitator plans, writes, and effectively implements age-appropriate lesson and activity plans, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills. They approach classroom and behaviour management with patience and a positive attitude, effectively handling conflicts and disruptive behaviour.


In addition to the above, the Senior Student Care Facilitator provides ongoing support, mentorship, and guidance to Student Care Facilitators and other junior Student Care programme staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.


He/she has to work closely with the Student Care management and administration to implement best practices, ensure compliance, evaluate effectiveness, and ensure timelines are met.


A passion for working with children, strong organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to diverse needs are essential for this role.


Senior Student Care Facilitators serve as experienced role models, guiding and mentoring junior staff, and inspiring and motivating students to reach their full potential. They contribute to the continuous improvement of the Student Care programme under the guidance of the Student Care Manager and Student Care Assistant Managers.


Critical Work Functions and Key Tasks

Classroom Management

  • Create a safe, stimulating, positive, and supportive learning environment in the classroom
  • Supervise and guide students during routine transitions
  • Establish clear expectations and rules for behaviour in the classroom and consistently enforce them
  • Foster and maintain integrated and inclusive student care environment in which students with varying abilities and needs (including hearing loss and mild to moderate SEN) play and learn together
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting a nurturing and inclusive environment
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that prioritises the needs, interests, and well-being of the students
  • Utilise various strategies and techniques to address and prevent challenging or negative behaviour, including positive reinforcement, redirection, and conflict resolution
  • Take a child-centric approach by actively listening to students, respecting their opinions, and recognising and valuing their individual differences and strengths
  • Mentor, guide, and support Student Care Programme Facilitators to continuously improve their classroom management abilities.

Behaviour Management

  • Monitor and manage student behaviour, addressing any disciplinary issues promptly and in accordance with center policies
  • Use effective communication and conflict resolution skills to promote a harmonious environment
  • Provide guidance and support to students in developing their social-emotional skills and positive values
  • Acknowledge appropriate behaviour and address students' inappropriate behaviour using positive reinforcement strategies
  • Manage classrooms and students in line with established classroom and behaviour management strategies
  • Adopt the Positive Behaviour Intervention System (PBIS) for overall student and classroom management
  • Use positive behaviour techniques to reinforce good behaviours
  • Mentor, guide, and support Student Care Programme Facilitators to continuously improve their PBIS implementation and classroom and behaviour management abilities.

Parent Communication and Management

  • Serves as a key point of contact for resolving conflicts and addressing concerns.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and effectively builds positive relationships.
  • Regularly communicates with parents and share updates on students' progress, address concerns or issues, and collaborate with parents for the best possible care and support.

Daily Programme & Scheduling of Daily Class Activities

  • Maintain a structured daily schedule with engaging activities, minimising unstructured downtime
  • Plan and execute lessons and activities for holidays and ad-hoc full-days
  • Incorporate both indoor and outdoor activities to provide a well-rounded experience
  • Provide basic academic support and supervise homework completion daily
  • Provide weekly spelling practice
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of program activities and make improvements as necessary

Administration & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student attendance, activities, and incidents
  • Collate attendance and activity consent/registration responses; follow-up on non-responses
  • Keep track and follow-up closely on the minimum attendance requirements and absence documentation of students on the financial assistance schemes
  • Work closely with the Centre’s admin team to mitigate potential attendance and documentation issues
  • Timeliness in all administration, documentation and processes

Professional Development

  • Attend regular staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills

  • Continuously improve classroom strategies based on feedback and reflection

Setting Routines and Expectations

  • Clearly explain, consistently remind, and regularly encourage children to follow and practice center-wide routines, rules, and expectations
  • Ensure Center-wide routines, rules, and expectations are displayed in a manner that is easy to see and understand

Collaboration with Various Stakeholders

  • Build positive relationships with parents and stakeholders through strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement effective strategies and interventions for students with specific needs or challenges

Mentorship and Guidance

  • Serve as a resource person for facilitators, functioning as the go-to person for support in addressing challenges or issues that may arise
  • Provide guidance and feedback to Student Care facilitators, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively carry out their roles
  • Lead daily huddles to review and reflect on the previous day’s operations and go over the current day’s plans
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, encouraging facilitators to share ideas, seek advice, and learn from one another

SOPS’ and Best Practices

  • Serve as a resource for facilitators when it comes to standard operating procedures, policies, and best practices.
  • Assist the student care management and administration to implement standardized practices and policies across all student care programs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices and share knowledge and resources with the team.
  • Participate in regular meetings and discussions to provide input and contribute to program improvements.

Education, Skills, and Competencies

Education and Experience

  • Minimum requirement – Diploma Graduate
  • Preferably with teaching qualification or at least 2 years of relevant experience as a Senior Facilitator/Senior Teacher in a school-based Student Care Centre
  • Preferably with at least 1 year of supervisory experience

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Familiarity with hearing aids, FM transmitters and other related technology
  • Familiarity with relevant educational tools, resources, and technology
