The Team
As the Data Platform team, we are responsible for delivering the data, technology, and community provisions that empower Dyson's global data and analytics capabilities. We have end-to-end responsibility for managing data platforms and integrations, enabling our development and analytics teams to continuously enhance features and capabilities for our customers, partners, and employees.
Our multi-disciplinary, global team provides round-the-clock development and operations, encompassing platform architecture, engineering, management, DataOps, governance, and advanced analytics expertise. We are involved with every aspect of Dyson's global business, seeking to deliver solutions that generate impressive and tangible business value.
About the Role
As the Data Platform Training and Communications Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and adoption of Dyson's Data Platform. You will develop and implement a comprehensive training strategy, designed to empower users with the skills and knowledge they need to leverage the Data Platform's capabilities effectively. Your role extends to fostering knowledge sharing, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and maintaining open lines of communication within the team and across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Training Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive training strategy for Data Platform users, ensuring proficiency in platform utilization.
- Training Programs: Design, organize, and deliver tailored training programs for data engineers, platform engineers, and team members.
- Onboarding: Develop and maintain an onboarding program to facilitate a seamless transition for new users and team members.
- Skill Enhancement: Identify skills gaps and create training initiatives to address them, covering technical skills, best practices, and industry trends.
- Documentation: Collaborate with engineers to create and maintain internal documentation, knowledge bases, and training materials.
- Knowledge Sharing: Promote a culture of knowledge sharing, encouraging team members to share their expertise.
- Communication: Develop a comprehensive communication plan, ensuring the team and organization are informed of important developments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments or teams within Dyson to align on data-related projects and initiatives.
- Feedback and Evaluation: Gather feedback to continuously improve and tailor training content to team members' needs.
- Vendor Training: Coordinate vendor-provided training and certifications for team members.
- Events and Workshops: Organize workshops, seminars, and events related to data engineering, data platforms, and best practices.
- Mentorship: Facilitate mentorship programs and knowledge-sharing sessions to foster professional growth.
About You
As the ideal candidate for this role, you possess the following qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Experience and exposure in DataOps, data platforms and data engineering in general. Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs, particularly in a technical or data-related context.
- Technical Proficiency: A solid understanding of data engineering concepts and technologies, with the ability to translate technical information into user-friendly training materials.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Collaborative Mindset: A collaborative and team-oriented approach, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify training needs and evaluate program effectiveness.
