Job Description
The Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP) operates a high-tech satellite ground station at the National University of Singapore. The Centre operates multiple dish antennas that track, receive and process data from remote sensing satellites orbiting the planet and conducts active research programmes on optical, infrared and microwave remote sensing.
The networks at CRISP carry large volumes of time sensitive data from orbiting satellites across our distributed antenna sites. It is a key component in our antenna farm. The work of the Ground Station Network Engineer is to keep this data distribution layer healthy and thriving. You will be asked to help design, provision, configure, maintain and administer complex multi-tier, multi-domain networks that are fast, secure and reliable. You will also be communicating with satellites through their mission control stations and participate in satellite data processing and archiving.
The job will require you to:
- Assist in the maintenance of CRISP IT networks.
- Harden and monitor CRISP IT networks for security issues.
- Support the role out of OS patches and updates.
- Perform VM backups regularly.
- Write scripts to automate data transfers and perform automated IT network monitoring.
- Participate in satellite control (training will be provided).
- On occasion, design and setup networks to support new satellite operations.
- Support the configuration of firewalls, routers and managed switches.
- Keep up to date on security threats and zero-day vulnerabilities as they arise.
Qualifications
- Degree in IT, Computer Engineering or a technical discipline.
- 2-5 years' experience in a network administration or engineering role.
- Only Singapore citizens need apply.
- Occasional after-hours work is required.
