Your Role
- Measure visual acuity, perform visual field tests, assess depth perception
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical history, and explaining procedures
- Assist ophthalmologists by helping with examinations, administering eye drops and medications, and providing post-operative care.
- Assist with procedures such as tests for glaucoma, cataracts, corneal transplants, retinal scans, and electroretinograms (ERGs)
- Educating patients by explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and medication instructions in a clear and understandable way
- Preparing ophthalmic equipment by sterilizing instruments, setting up examination rooms, and ensuring supplies are readily available
- Document patient encounters, procedures, and treatment plans
- Ensure proper storage and dispensing of medications
What We Are Looking For
We encourage nurses with the following criteria to apply:
- Demonstrated passion for patients and nursing.
- Proven experience as an ophthalmic nurse
- Knowledge of ophthalmology clinical skills.
- Good understanding of relevant ophthalmic equipment and technology.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility across all rostered theatre session
Compensation
$75,000 to $110,000 per year
