What you will do:
As Cloud Network Engineer, you are part of JCI’s ongoing and exciting digital transformation strategy, as a Cloud Network engineer you will work with the wider global network and IT teams, business partners and managed service vendors to manage, maintain and enhance the Cloud hosting environment in Johnson controls.
Our Cloud infrastructure consists of predominantly Azure’s cloud platform and span’s the major regions globally including America’s, EMEA and APAC. The deployment has followed Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption framework for Azure and aligns with best practices including Landing Zones and infrastructure as code. Connectivity to On-Prem consists of Express Route and SDWAN.
The role will be working as part of a global high-performance team focused on continuous Cloud network infrastructure delivery utilizing Terraform to deploy IaC and Azure DevOP’s pipeline to meet the needs of the business in terms of deployments of services that need to be consumed or to enhance the current cloud deployment. There will also be a requirement to deploy and manage other cloud technologies, such as GCP, OCI and AWS.
How you will do it:
- Azure Landing Zone Design: Collaborate with architects and other teams to design and implement Azure Landing Zones that adhere to best practices for security, compliance, and governance.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
- Azure DevOps Integration: Integrate Azure DevOps into the CI/CD pipeline to automate deployments and ensure smooth operations of cloud network resources.
- Network Configuration: Design and implement network configurations, including Virtual Networks (VNets), Network Security Groups (NSGs), ExpressRoute, and VPN gateways.
- Monitoring and Optimization: Implement monitoring solutions for network performance, troubleshoot issues, and continuously optimize the network for cost and performance efficiency.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure that the cloud network infrastructure complies with security policies, industry standards, and best practices. Implement security measures and contribute to threat detection and response strategies.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of network configurations, IaC scripts, and processes.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other engineering teams and provide technical support and guidance to ensure smooth integration of applications and services into the cloud network.
What we look for:
- Proven experience in designing and implementing Azure Landing Zones and network infrastructure within Microsoft Azure.
- Proficiency in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code and Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of network protocols, routing, security, and best practices for cloud network design.
- Familiarity with Azure services and tools, including Azure Firewall, Azure Bastion, and Azure Monitor.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Extensive knowledge of WAN networking concepts, protocols and solutions, including SDWAN.
- Understanding Cisco Routing and Switching, including Nexus, Catalyst and Meraki technologies.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Proven ability to document network architectures, IaC scripts, and processes effectively.
- Experience working with 3rd party vendors and managed network service providers.
- Great organisational skills.
- Experience in Enterprise level network security incidents and change Management process.
- Experience with other private and public cloud providers is a plus, (e.g., AWS, GCP, Nutanix, OCI, VMWare) particularly in connectivity, availability, resilience, and security.
- Familiarity with service now Ticketing and CMDB is desirable.
- Demonstrated capability to be autonomous as lead cloud network engineer in multi-phase / multi-year network projects or programs, leading these projects to successful implementation.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skill.
- Strong vendor management experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to provide clear messages to all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively establish and maintain strategic working relationships with peers and constituents at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated analysis and problem solving skills using innovative thinking.
- Knowledge of ITIL based practices.
- Knowledge of Python and automation skills are desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect is a plus.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing Azure Landing Zones and network infrastructure within Microsoft Azure.
- 5+ Years of proven Network engineering hands on experience at Global Enterprise organizations.
