Assistant Manager – Compliance and Risk

The overall objective is to deliver high-quality compliance support and risk management service to Group businesses in Singapore and to direct and oversee all local regulatory compliance and risk management activities.


To be responsible for providing strategic compliance advice to the respective Singapore businesses and ensure the day-to-day compliance obligations are discharged in a timely and accurate manner.


This post requires significant attention to detail, professionalism, ability to multi-task and having excellent organisational, prioritisation and communication skills. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to adhere to internal policies and procedures


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Knowledge of regulatory framework - financial services regulations and legislation, AML/CFT legislation and associated guidance.
  • Understand and ensure all regulatory aspects are considered and applied when risk assessing and reviewing files in line with AML/CFT legislation, regulations, rules and guidance for the applicable jurisdiction.
  • Reviewing and approving due diligence information and documentation to ensure compliance with Singapore anti-money laundering legislation, regulations and associated regulatory guidance.
  • Review of transactions, periodic/ trigger event reviews and onboarding.
  • Disseminate MAS circulars and announcements.
  • Conduct compliance monitoring programme testing.
  • Assist with review of policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in completion of compliance reports, updating internal systems with relevant data and assisting with ad hoc regulatory projects as required; and
  • Ability to meet deadlines will be required.
  • Act as the backup operational relationship lead with the MAS and other relevant external authorities and stakeholders.
  • Promote and ensure appropriate observation of the three lines of defence model.
  • Provide timely and accurate advice to the Singapore board/s and staff members on compliance and risk matters.
  • Working knowledge of trust and company structures, ownership chains and have a good understanding on what are the underlying assets within the structures.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, policies and procedures.

Experience and/or qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of AML legislation and regulations in the relevant jurisdictions.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the evidence required by the Regulator in terms of CDD, Source of Wealth/Funds.
  • Knowledge of Trust and Company administration, organisations’ structures.
  • Attention to detail.
  • An investigative mind set.
  • Experience in risk identification, qualification and mitigation (desirable).
  • Prior experience of working for a corporate and trust service provider (desirable).
  • ICA/STEP/ICSA Qualification (desirable).
  • Use of Navision and document management systems (desirable).
