ENGLISH TEACHER - Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme (Year 6 to 8)

  • Must be a certified Cambridge Teacher with certification in CICTL or CDTL.
  • At least Bachelor's of Arts Degree in English graduate or with related allied disciplines.
  • Experience in Creative Lesson Planning, Classroom Management, Student Assessment, and Parent-Teacher Communication.
  • Must be computer literate, skilled in extra co-curricular activities and have a mastery command over spoken English language and English literature.
  • With prior teaching experience on Secondary Programmes - English subject and had taught from any international schools in Singapore.
  • Taught English to students from the lower to higher secondary level.
  • Successful candidate may be tasked to teach other subject combination in the Lower Secondary programmes when required depending on the current requirement.
  • Compose lesson plans to successfully incorporate the full duration of each lesson following Cambridge Curriculum of CLSP.
  • Execute lessons efficiently using different styles of teaching depending on the content.
  • Engage students to ensure a lively classroom atmosphere.
  • Mark work, give appropriate feedback and maintain records of pupil progress and development.
  • Prepare pupil for external examinations and competitions.
  • Manage pupil behaviour in the classroom and on school premises, and apply appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehaviour.
  • Communicate with parents and carers over pupil progress and participate in departmental meetings, parents evenings, and organisational training events.
  • Instruct students about the structure and content of the English language.
  • Teach students the spelling of words, and their meanings.
  • Emphasize the rules of composition, grammar, and sentence construction.
  • Teach students the correct pronunciation of words.
  • Teach students to think critically when studying literature and poetry.
  • Teach students to analyse and question media reports, advertisements, and news reports.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Art Degree or Master's degree in English, English Literature, and Education.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a teaching role.
  • Class management & computer Skills.
  • Ability to teach core academic subjects other than English would be an added advantage.
  • Cambridge Certified or acquired with CICTL/ CIDTL certification.
