The essential responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic legal counsel and advice to Management and business units on various legal and compliance matters, including insurance law, corporate governance, employment law, intellectual property, data protection and litigation matters.
- Acting as the company's Data Protection Officer, ensuring internal approvals, corporate governance, and compliance requirements are met.
- Developed and enhanced policies and procedures to align with business goals.
- Provide support to external audit and internal audit activities, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues
- Execute procedures for protecting patents, trademarks, etc.
- Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization
- Advising on and assisting with annual statutory and regulatory compliance obligations in Singapore
- Preparing board and shareholders’ resolutions
- Attending board and shareholder meetings and preparing minutes
- Advising on, preparing and lodging annual returns and other requisite filings with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority of Singapore (ACRA)
- Engage and manage external legal counsel when necessary
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of alterations in legislation
Formal Education & Certification
- BSc degree in Law or J.D. degree
- At least 5 -8 years of PQE
Knowledge & Experience
- Min 5-8 years of related legal experience in a law firm or corporate environment
- Deep knowledge and understanding of insurance laws, regulations, and compliance frameworks in Singapore
- Strong business partnering and collaborator management skills and a curiosity about understanding the overall business
- Arbitration and mediation skills
