JOB PURPOSE
Individual contributor assisting the Team Leader in underwriting to grow the market share for the Company products through the appropriate distribution channels in Singapore and across the region.
Responsible for underwriting of new and renewal Marine Cargo business of simpler technical complexity under GA’s underwriting standards and delegated authority levels.
Deliver a high-level service standard to our intermediaries and customers with focus of building relationships and promoting the company.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Adhere to both business and underwriting plans and strategies to support the business growth through the various distribution channels.
- Working with the Head and own Team Leader to drive the profitable growth of Marine portfolio for the company and achieving market leadership.
- Working with the Head and own Team Leader to establish best practices and processes to ensure that the team meet the company’s service standards set.
Business Development
- Assist the Head and own Team Leader in successful business penetration launch.
- Assist the Head and own Team Leader in growing new and existing business through strengthened account relationships by way of a multi-tier approach.
- Assist the Head and own Team Leader in driving efforts in key business and line reviews including product selection, pricing, new product introductions, competitive (healthy) conversions via Key Decision Influencer, etc.
- Assist the Head and own Team Leader in performing territory and distribution channel analyses and planning in order to prioritize allocation of efforts to maximize profitable growth.
Underwriting
- Review and prepare underwriting / renewal information
- Prepare Marine Raters for discussion with Team Leader / Head.
- Underwrite simpler risk and maintain a profitable book of Marine Cargo business.
- Prepare quotation slips after finalization with Team Leader / Head
- Attend to queries or mid-term changes from existing accounts
- Liaise with intermediaries and follow up on new quotations and renewals
- Ensure timely and proper passing down of instructions to Policy Administration with the required information / documentation.
- Ensure that sanction checks are conducted.
- Handle the checking of policies and broking slips
- Update and maintain the records, schedules, statistics, etc.
- Assist the Head, own Team Leader to compile, analyze and prepare monthly reports required for monthly meetings and business reviews.
- Ensure that an acceptable pricing and terms is dertermine within own underwriting authority and underwriting guidelines, on new business and renewals.
QUALIFICATION
- ACII, ANZIIF, or Degree/Diploma in Insurance
- Basic Degree/Diploma in Business or Engineering with CGI
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 4 - 6 years experience in Marine insurance underwriting with direct intermediary engagement / technical underwriting.
- Knowledge of Marine insurance operations, underwriting procedures, and understanding of policy wordings.
- Understanding of risk assessment, laws, and legislation in relation to the Marine insurance industry.
