Role:
HSBC Alternatives is the alternative investment arm of HSBC Asset Management, investing globally in a wide spectrum of alternatives asset classes which include private market funds, hedge funds, real assets (direct real estate and energy transition infrastructure equity) , infrastructure and private debts, venture capital, with an AUM of ~$64 billion and ~300 staff across 10 offices (inc. London, New York, Dusseldorf, Hong Kong and Singapore).
The Alternative Investments Operations Team is responsible for the global investment operations function comprises portfolio transaction services, core investment support and control to enable investment decisions, product/portfolio controllership for all alternative investment products of HSBC Alternatives. The team operates from centres of excellence in London, Bangalore, and Singapore.
Part of the Alternatives Operations Team, The Alternative Senior Associate– Venture Capital (VC) will support directly the Operations Director – HSBC Alternatives and will support the operation design & Delivery on VC and the setup of the new Operating Model of the VC capital Fund.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and setting up new operating model related to Venture Capital funds across Alternatives investment capabilities in close collaboration with Product, Investment functions as well as Investment Operations capabilities leads across alternatives investment products until full portfolio onboarding.
- Attend the product working group and follow-up on operational activities and actions for the funds.
- Support the investment operations activities for the launch of Venture Capital Fund and setup a task list and planner for the BAU activities.
- · Engaging with the required stakeholders in Asia and Europe, internally and externally until full operational readiness
- Contributing actively and on a continuous basis to end-to end process mapping in close engagement with functional architecture team, 1st line of Defence risk and controls and 2nd Line of Defence to get guidance, support and assurance in the review of the output.
- Support with setting up the process documents for various activities within Venture Capital fund
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Degree qualification, preferably in Finance
- Professional certifications (i.e. CAIA, CFA, ACA, FRM, CMA…) and Experience in alternatives investments products are distinct advantages
- Working experience exposed to products (funds and mandates) from any European or any other local regulations like Hong Kong or Singapore, cross borders taxations and capital structure
- Strong experience managing operational risk in a changing environment
- Must show ability to communicate clearly on complex and diverse subjects and to maintain a high level of professionalism when dealing with clients, investors and colleagues
- Must possess effective project management, organisational and interpersonal skills with proven ability to work to deadlines in an efficient and accurate manner
- Experience dealing with outsourced service providers
- Commercially focus and client-centric
- · Ability to understand and consolidate diverse and complex business information to translate into actions and propose operational and pragmatic solutions
- Demonstrate collaborative and supportive working relationship with the other business departments and functions
- Fluency in English; other languages are an advantage
