Responsibilities
- Conceptualise, develop and implement Educational programmes that align with the Education, Research and Conservation (ERC) strategy of the S.E.A. Aquarium/Singapore Oceanarium.
- Foster partnerships with schools/institutions, corporations and government agencies to drive collaborations that support the breadth and depth of the Educational programmes; aligning with the goals of the S.E.A. Aquarium/Singapore Oceanarium.
- Coordinate, train and supervise team members to deliver immersive world class Educational learning journeys, classroom programmes and public programmes.
- Manage the S.E.A. Aquarium/Singapore Oceanarium’s interpretive media to educate, raise awareness on threats to the marine environment and inspire the wonder of our oceans to all guests.
- Provide excellent customer service for Animal-related Educational Programmes to ensure repeat bookings from the Schools and the Public
- Perform the role of Duty manager on scheduled days to take charge of the frontline operations of the team. Ensure timely and accurate data recording and reporting.
- Interact with SEAA guests by sharing knowledge about marine animals and their habitats, and address guests concerns whenever necessary to enhance the experience.
- Facilitate Educational Tours and public programmes, to allow guests to have an in-depth learning experience, and provide insightful information about animals and their habitat which may not be found anywhere else in the aquarium. This includes facilitating overnight camps, scavenger hunts and programmes that may be conducted in Mandarin.
- Supervise and improve the nature of activities at various work stations/themed events to ensure smooth operations in SEAA.
Requirements
- Degree in Education, Marine Biology, Aquaculture, Life Sciences, or a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 1 years of education experience preferred.
- Good customer service skills and positive work attitude.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Tour Guides to take Chinese/Japanese/Indian tourist groups. Knowledge of Mandarin/Japanese/Indian dialects is essential.
- As some programmes may be conducted in Mandarin, fluency in the Mandarin language will be an advantage.
- Experience in engaging with multi sector stakeholder groups will be advantageous.
- Experience in an established aquarium or zoological facility will be an advantage.
- Strong copywriting or science communication background will be an advantage.
