Lecturer (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science)
The job of an academic is challenging but meaningful. Not only will s/he have both the knowledge and working experience, s/he must also possess a passion for working with youths, nurturing and moulding their characters.
There will be opportunities to:
- Lead and collaborate with industry in AI/DSA projects that support the Nation’s data and digital transformation effort
- be involved in consultancy and other applied research projects.
- train students and coach junior staff in the area of specialisation.
- develop curriculum, introduce new courses
- Administrative work related to teaching and School/Institutional strategic initiatives will also be an important part of the job.
The appointee must be competent to teach at diploma and higher levels in any one of the following areas:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Computer Vision (CV)
- Data Science (DS)
- Data Analytics (DA)
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Cloud Computing (CC)
The appointee should also be able to teach in any one of the following areas:
- Mathematics
- Statistics
- Computing
The appointee will also be required to teach at least one of the following broad-based, foundational modules under the common core curriculum to enable our students to have the necessary emerging digital skills and human skills.
- Data Fluency
- Artificial Intelligence and Its Impact
- Persuasive Communication with Data Storytelling
- Problem Solving with Creative and Computational Thinking
Responsibilities:
- Conduct lessons, create teaching and assessment materials and mentoring of students
- Develop and maintain new/existing teaching curriculum for modules stated above
- Undertake projects/consultancy work with both internal and external stakeholders, in area of AI, DS, CV, DA, NLP and/or CC
- Coordinate, develop and maintain new/existing teaching curriculum that would enhance students’ performance, learning and employability.
Requirements:
- Passionate about education and possess good values
- Team player with the ability to work independently
- Possess deep knowledge and keep abreast of trends of latest developments in the area of AI, DS, CV, DA, NLP and/or CC, to keep the student training and curriculum up to date and relevant, and build staff capability.
- Experience in cloud computing or software engineering, particularly in the deployment of AI/DS models into production is preferred
- Resourceful and innovative with initiative
Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
