Sourcing Engineer

1. BASIC FUNCTION:

Identify and review new potential manufacturers and contractors; submit registration packages for quality and engineering review after pre-screening; promote KSA economy by introducing investment opportunities to local suppliers.


2. SCOPE:

  • Report to Sourcing Supervisor. Work independently or under minimum direction.
  • Possess a good knowledge of the assigned commodities with technical or commercial complexity, their values and sources of supply to ensure the Company’s continued usage of these materials.
  • Carry-out screening survey to verify the manufacturer’s true technical & quality capabilities requiring few if any changes

3. PRINCIPAL CONTACTS:

Internal:

  • Maintain appropriate contact with other Sourcing, Purchasing personnel, Logistics, Inspection and other ABS disciplines.
  • Regular contact with other ABS offices.

External:

  • Maintain appropriate contact with vendors concerning commodity availability, prices, terms of supply and placement of orders.
  • Frequent contact with the Saudi Aramco Materials Supply (MS) and Saudi Aramco user organizations via SAP, E-Mail, Fax etc., to solve any queries regarding requisitions and orders.
  • Has contact with the other out of Kingdom (OOK) purchasing offices on an as needed basis.

4. PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Identify new potential manufactures and contractors. Develop sources of supply when source coverage is considered inadequate, or at specific request of supervisor.
  • Review suppliers’ (manufactures and contractors) legal, physical and financial status. Verify suppliers capabilities and capacities to produce the targeted commodities (9com). Participate with RSA and QMD in the physical survey. Coordinate with sampling and lab testing with concerned organization, i.e. CSD, drilling, etc.
  • Prepare technical and quality packages for review by inspection and engineering units requiring few if any changes
  • Maintain appropriate contact with vendors and other departments within Saudi Aramco, i.e. Material Supply, Inspection, Logistics, etc.
  • Promote KSA economy by introducing the potential investment opportunities to local suppliers
  • Work with Strategic Sourcing Division on developing and updating the 9COM list based on country’s strength
  • Train junior colleagues as required.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as directed by Line Manager.

5. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering / mechanical engineering / Chemicals, etc.
  • Minimum 9 years working experience, and at least 6 years in sourcing and procurement with a multinational company; or Master degree with minimum 6 years working in relevant discipline.
  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills
  • Experience in Electrical equipment, instrumentation and IT and communication equipment, or mechanical equipment or chemicals;
  • Very good knowledge in suppliers qualifications, inspection and sourcing
  • Knowledge in international standards for oil and gas equipment
  • Participated in supply chain process or projects procurement activities


This is a 1-year contract role with subject to extension depending on business needs.
