You will perform receiving, processing, testing and cryopreservation of cord blood units (CBUs) and ensure there is proper labelling and disposition of all cord blood samples in compliance with SCBB’s laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). You will perform entry of data pertaining to the CBUs into Laboratory Information System. You will document and review laboratory test results. You will perform the search and distribution of CBUs for both clinical (transplantation) and non-clinical (research) use. You will perform cleaning, monitoring, and internal preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment, including liquid nitrogen tanks. You will perform equipment QC activities when necessary. You will also assist in validating new processes/ tests/ equipment and preparing laboratory SOP in-line with current licensing, accreditation and regulatory requirements. You will also perform the processing and testing of other cord blood components, such as plasma and platelets.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Life Science with at least 2 years related work experience. Prior experience in areas of cord blood or blood bank will be advantageous.
- Experience working in a FACT or CAP accredited lab will be advantageous
- Experience in blood component separation, cryopreservation, and flow cytometry work will be advantageous
