Role Purpose
This is a Contract opportunity (upto 6 months) to cover the responsibilities of the Head of Business Development, Global Banking Singapore.
The role is a senior leadership role, partnering with the HSBC leadership team to drive the development and execution of strategic initiatives within the Global Banking business with a view to attaining improved business performance and enhanced operating effectiveness as well as improved client experience.
Business Development is required to maintain consistent, close engagement with the Global Banking head and other Stakeholders to implement a wide range of initiatives which are central to the effective operation of the business.
Key responsibilities includes but is not limited to shaping and driving business strategy, cross product collaboration, planning and cost management, focusing on the effectiveness of business processes which impact banker productivity and overall client experience as well as driving the people and culture agenda.
Business Development is also the bridging point into GB for many of the functions supporting the business and involves working closely with a wide range of stakeholder groups to ensure that the support provided into Global Banking is aligned to the business strategy, that risks are effectively managed and issues are anticipated or quickly resolved.
Principal Accountabilities
- Supporting senior management in leading the development and implementation of business development strategies and initiatives focused on driving growth and business performance as well as enhancing Global Banking product and coverage capabilities.
- Championing and coordinating collaboration initiatives
- Responsible for overseeing and managing the overall cost profile of the front office including the prioritization and management of hiring.
- Working across Global Banking stakeholders as well as with functional partners to enhance the end to end client experience ensuring we are able to respond to banker and client feedback.
- Identifying and leading initiatives focused on improving banker effectiveness and overall business productivity through the effective use of business analytics, automation and information tools as well as process simplification.
- Enhancing Global Banking products and business capabilities as well as ensuring wider change programs such as those addressing regulatory requirements have the necessary business input throughout the process.
- Supporting the design and implementation of the Global Banking people agenda across the region/country as well as initiatives focused on enhancing banking conduct and promoting the highest cultural standards to support the Group’s strategy for sustainable growth and streamlining of business processes and procedures.
- Work with relevant teams to ensure all internal controls and compliance procedures covering all business activities of Global Banking are supportive for growth, customer oriented, and in line with Group / local regulatory standards.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
The job holder will ideally have knowledge and experience in the following areas:
- Proven leadership and relationship management skills in dealing with all levels, with the confidence to interact with executive & senior management and make measured decisions which may have far reaching implications
- Exceptional drive and commitment; ability to work and thrive in a fast changing, results driven environment; and proven ability in handling competing priorities
- Sound judgment, decision making and problem solving abilities
- A self-starter who is not afraid to speak up and face a challenge; also open to listen to guidance and learn as they go
