PRIMARY FUNCTION:
- Lead and manage the Trading & Optimization team
- Manage commercial activity / negotiation for LNG short term/spot marketing and optimization
- Monitor operation/implementation of LNG short term/spot cargoes and relevant ships
- Economics and risk analysis for short term/spot cargoes
- Support economics and risk analysis for mid-term opportunities
- Participation in internal and/or external meetings / conferences
- Engage shareholder for the risk appetite necessary for the short term trade through, but not limited to, DGI annual business plan preparation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Commercial activity / negotiation for LNG short term/spot marketing and optimization
- Maintain and expand the network in LNG trading industry and shipping community especially with the Japanese counterparties in Singapore through daily communication.
- Negotiate spot/short term deals and/or optimization opportunities with external customers, traders and suppliers in English and Japanese. Propose and draft key terms and conditions for those trade opportunities. Communication in relation to MC as a shareholder or DGI’s equity volume or affiliated volume.
- Attend the internal discussion for SPOT/Short term trading strategy of DGI and/or MC, etc.
- Manage, negotiate, review and finalize (including execution arrangement) commercial contracts such as Confidential Agreement, MSPA and Confirmation Notice etc.
- Ad hoc support in relation to DGI’s LNG marketing, trading and optimization.
2. Operation/implementation of LNG short term/spot cargoes and ships
- Manage and coordinate with external/ internal cargo operation team. Liaise with MC operation department in Tokyo who is service provider for cargo operation including Ship-Shore Compatibility Study (SSCS) and ship movement.
- Monitor the business process of the cargo transaction. Maintain customer lists updated through business process for Know Your Customer (KYC), Master Sales and Purchase Agreement (MSPA), credit line.
- General information exchange with external parties (journalists, LNG brokers etc.).
3. Economics and risk analysis for short term/spot cargoes
- Maintain, upgrade the shipping/freight model and evaluate economics/transaction value & risk analysis (physical trading and contract analysis).
4. Participation in internal and/or external meeting / conferences
- Upon team’s request, attend internal/external LNG conferences (such as CWC, GASTECH and any others, including traveling overseas), setting up the catch-up meetings with counterparties.
- Engagement with MC as well as DGI or MC’s global offices around the world (including marketing / trading opportunities and emerging markets opportunities).
- (i) Reporting, liaising and collaborating with MC offices in Japan and provides commercial supports for marketing and optimization.
- (ii) Liaising and collaborating with MC London Office who looks after the Atlantic market and provides commercial supports including but not limited to marketing, sourcing, European storage, regas capacity, shipping.
- (iii) Liaising and collaborating with other MC global officesrelated to LNG business.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENT:
- Excellent negotiation skills in fluent English and Japanese, as well as high level of linguistic skills in both languages.
- Minimum Bachelor degree in Mathematics/Actuarial science/Finance or any related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years related experience
- Strong analytical, problem solving abilities, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently & as a team.
