Job Overview


An Assistant Purchasing Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the efficient procurement and sourcing operations within an organization. This role involves working closely with the Purchasing Manager to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services necessary for business operations. Key responsibilities include assisting in vendor management, negotiating contracts, maintaining accurate procurement records, and monitoring inventory levels.


Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise and when necessary, execute all aspects of purchasing and material planning of raw material, packaging and other material and services as specified.
  • Source and qualify potential suppliers, in accordance with established supplier certification guidelines and Purchasing policies.
  • Co-ordinate and oversee bid processes for suppliers according to established guidelines.
  • Work cross-functionally to assist in the development of new products (i.e., packaging design, new ingredients, labels, etc).
  • Work with Quality Assurance (QA) and Research & Development (R&D) on quality issues, specifications, nutritional information and discuss concerns with suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain the chain of command for all purchasing requisitions, purchasing documentation, forecasts and receiving documentation.

Job Requirements

  • At least Degree in Purchasing Management, Logistic Management or Supply Chain Management or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experienced in Food Manufacturing industry would be advantageous
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and knowledge in SAP is preferred
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Good in planning, organizing and prioritizing assignments
  • Continuously implementing improvement processes is a priority
  • Independent, able to work under pressure, as well as multi-tasking
  • Having strong business acumen is essential for making informed decisions
