Document Review Attorney (Three months contract)

What you'll do:
As a Document Review Attorney (three-month contract), you will play a crucial role in examining documents related to investigations, litigation, and regulatory actions. Your keen eye for detail will be essential in identifying issues such as relevancy, responsiveness, privilege, and confidentiality. You will have the opportunity to utilise your language skills by working with documents that require fluency in both Japanese and English. Your ability to multitask will be tested as you juggle multiple projects while meeting critical deadlines. Your excellent communication skills will foster effective collaboration within your team.

  • Examine various types of documents such as emails, memos, Powerpoints, and spreadsheets page by page for various issues including relevancy, responsiveness, privilege, and confidentiality
  • Summarise key parts of documents, create privilege logs or redact confidential or personal information as part of document review workflows
  • Work collaboratively with the team to identify key information and effectively communicate findings
  • Meet critical deadlines by collaborating with the review manager and team members
  • Recognise patterns in the data to allow for consistent coding of similar documents in larger quantities
  • Multitask and work on multiple projects as needed
  • Raise questions and issues in a timely manner to the team

What you bring:
The ideal Document Review Attorney (three-month contract) brings a wealth of skills to our client's team. You are actively licensed and in good standing with a bar association. Your language capabilities extend beyond English fluency; you are also fluent in Japanese. While experience with document discovery or investigations is beneficial, our client provides comprehensive training to equip you with the necessary skills. Your proficiency in modern technology, particularly Microsoft Office suite, will be crucial in this role. Your critical thinking skills and ability to retain complex work direction will be tested as you navigate through various tasks. Above all, your excellent written and verbal communication skills will ensure effective collaboration within the team.

  • Active license and good standing with a bar association; various jurisdictions considered
  • Fluency in Japanese; reading fluency is a must-have
  • Experience with document discovery or investigations is helpful but not mandatory as training is provided
  • Proficiency in use of modern technology including Microsoft Office suite; particularly Excel
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to retain complex work direction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
