Catastrophe Risk Analyst

An exciting opportunity working as a Catastrophe Risk Analyst within a growing business unit and based in Singapore. The successful candidate will be using cutting edge proprietary tools, providing technical support, CAT pricing results, and exposure management for the APAC portfolio. They will support underwriters across direct and reinsurance lines of business, providing technical advice, support, and exposure management for the entire APAC region. They will need to take ownership of maintaining and improving processes as well as modelling methods and work closely with the Group CAT modelling team.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Use RMS and other CAT modelling tools to manage CAT exposure on an account and portfolio level
  • Incorporate CAT modelling outputs in pricing models, describe year on year modelling and results changes
  • Enhance the CAT modelling processes for smarter analytics
  • Contribute to the creation of internal and external reports
  • Communicate risk metrics to key stakeholders.
  • Develop an understanding of CAT modelling methodologies and natural hazards.
  • Contribute to internal and regulatory reporting including monthly roll ups.

Skills and experience:

  • Degree in an analytical discipline (maths, science, engineering, or economics)
  • Highly numerate and logical – strong mathematical/statistical knowledge is advantageous
  • Good communication skills – ability to influence, negotiate, and listen.
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets with advanced Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL query language is desirable.
  • Familiarity with another programming language, such as VBA, R, and Python, and prior use of GIS packages are an advantage.
  • Proactive and hard-working.
  • A keen attention to detail while able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to absorb and analyse information quickly.
