We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of woodworking techniques and materials, with a proven track record of delivering high quality custom furniture. As a senior carpenter, you will lead projects from conception to completion, ensuring all pieces are made with the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully communicate the requirements and provide accurate estimates.
- Select appropriate materials, tools and techniques for each project, ensuring safety, efficiency and quality in execution.
- Execute the construction of custom furniture pieces, including cutting, shaping and assembly.
- Collaborate with designers and clients to refine designs and ensure the final project aligns with their vision and specifications.
- Oversee and mentor Junior Carpenters, imparting knowledge of woodworking techniques and safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized workshop environment, ensuring all tools and machinery are in good working order.
- Manage project timelines and resources, ensuring project completion on schedule and within budget.
- Continuously seek to improve processes and introduce innovative techniques to enhance quality and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 3 - 5 years of experience in carpentry, with a focus on custom furniture making in solid wood.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools and woodworking machinery with a strong understanding of wood properties and joinery techniques.
- Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and able to mentor and motivate a small team.
- Good communication skills, capable of working closely with the team as well as clients and designers.
