SwissMarine is a highly reputed and leading freight operator & shipping company operating in the drybulk sector worldwide. We are looking for a dynamic UK-qualified and practicing senior solicitor with extensive expertise in shipping litigation to join our in house legal team. The suitable candidate will need to have significant experience handling or advising on all aspects of charterparty disputes, to include, but not limited to, demurrage and laytime disputes and be able to provide real-time advice in the context of all of the company’s chartering operations, including CoA’s and time charter negotiations and their related contractual performance.
The role requires potential candidates to be able to advise independently and confidently on day-to-day queries from our operations and trading teams respectively (across our offices), including advising on the legal construction of and/or drafting charterparty clauses, any and all disputes arising from or connected with the contractual performance), applicable regulations / compliance, as well as run or manage arbitration proceedings under LMAA, SCMA, SIAC, SMA, etc.
Requirements:-
In-house Legal Counsel, Senior UK-qualified and practising Solicitor specialising on Shipping Litigation, 7-9 years PQE, to be based in Singapore, but with flexibility to support our Europe office (i.e. during Europe time zone).
