Job Description
The A*STAR's National Metrology Centre (NMC) is the national measurement institute of Singapore, dedicated to advancing measurement science for an innovative and competitive economy. NMC is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and innovative engineer with excellent interpersonal skills to join our multi-disciplinary team.
Successful candidate will be supporting measurement science R&D, including metrology for sensor testing and measurement of low-carbon fuels; and characterization and measurements in Additive Manufacturing (AM). He/she will be also working with a team of metrologists and scientists to support a competent and internationally recognized Singapore national measurement infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct laboratory experiments to collect comprehensive data & data analysis under the guidance of metrologists and scientists.
- Perform and develop various analytical techniques and methods, such as X-ray CT for quantitative porosity/defect and internal structure characterization and analysis
- Gas sensor testing platform for chemical compositions assessment
- Design AM artefacts to various geometries & defects with metrology consideration.
- Maintain accurate records of experimental data and observations, and assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot experimental issues and propose innovative solutions.
- Assist in literature reviews relevant to ongoing projects.
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas and suggestions to improve measurement methodologies and processes.
The applicant will also work on precision measurement and national measurement standards on physical parameters and chemical compositions. He/She will involve in measurement knowledge transfer program such as training and consulting services to develop measurement competency and provide measurement solution to the industry.
Job Requirement
A degree in physical science or engineering or relevant background; Postgraduate degree would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and digital systems used for measurement and testing.
- Possessing any of the following expertise will be preferred:
- Proficiency in data analytics and modeling
- Knowledge of Statistics, Machine Learning (ML), and their practical applications
- Competence in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, or C++
- Prior experience with X-ray CT or gas sensor testing would be advantageous.
- Capability to work autonomously yet collaboratively within a team.
- A proactive team contributor who is self-driven, eager to learn, and adopts a positive approach to challenges.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation abilities.
