Responsibilities:
- Drive the Asia & Middle East teams in improving their sustainability performance roadmap, principally to reduce GHG and emissions of VOC
- Responsible for developing and implementing strategies, policies and initiatives that minimize the environmental impact of our operations and contribute to the company's overall sustainability goals
- Lead the reporting on scope 1, 2 and 3 in line with the GHG protocol; ability to test and analyse, and drive the use of such data to improve sustainability performance
- Co-create materials to educate employees in the business unit and improve culture on sustainability, foster a culture of sustainability across departments by promoting awareness and accountability. Provide training and education throughout the organization on GHG and sustainability, as needed
- Identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions, energy consumption and waste generation; share this with the local teams and facilitate cross sharing. Where commonalities exist, support collaboration between teams and repeatability in implementation e.g. solar projects
- Lead the GHG reduction target validation process with the Science Based Target Initiative and ensure that GHG reduction targets are approved and updated when required
- Develop annual proposals for the BU on the selection and prioritization of GHG reduction projects to achieve the global targets in the most cost effective way
Requirements:
- Lead the overall GHG roadmap for Asia & Middle East Business Unit in line with 2030 and 2050 targets in collaboration with both Global as well as local teams
- Bachelor/Master Degree preferably in Engineering (e.g. Chemical, Process, Mechanical) or Science (e.g. Environmental Science, Energy Management)
- A minimum of 5 years work experience in the area of sustainability, or in projects/portfolio management of GHG reducing initiatives
- Preferred background from power generation, chemical manufacturing, waste treatment ie. Industries with large CO2 impact
- Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable business principles, translate strategy into tangible plans and actions, and ability to implement to in a business setting
- Ability to work independently as well as lead multi-disciplinary teams. Ability to collaborate, influence and connect with internal as well as external stakeholders
