Tangram Asia Capital LLP (“Tangram”) is the corporate venture arm of NTUC Enterprise, a Singapore-based social enterprise group with US$7B of annual turnover and a 2 million-strong customer base.
At Tangram, our hearts are with working people and their families. We aim to be a force for good by generating deep strategic partnerships between our portfolio companies and NTUC’s social enterprises to meet pressing needs of working people in areas like health and eldercare, daily essentials, food, and education.
Tangram’s approach is patient, collaborative, and active. With committed funding of US$200 million over the next few years, we will invest directly into venture growth companies and other venture funds, as well as seeking to develop entirely new ventures in partnership with like-minded corporations and start-ups.
The Role
We are looking for an enterprising individual to join us as part of the core investment team. Reporting directly to Tangram’s Managing Directors, you will assist with all stages of investment execution including, sourcing and evaluation of new opportunities, conduct of due diligence, and preparation of investment recommendations. In addition, you will support the ongoing development of Tangram’s strategy, as well as the monitoring and management of portfolio companies.
This role is diverse in scope and you will enjoy significant autonomy to drive innovation while being highly visible to NTUC Enterprises senior management.
What we entrust you with
- Support the formulation of corporate and investment strategies by providing inputs across environmental, business, market etc.
- Perform sector investment hypothesis, conduct opportunity filtering and deal execution.
- Support prioritization, sequencing and reporting of potential deals.
- Analyze investment opportunities and perform due diligence.
- Monitor and evaluate the portfolio of investments, as well as partnership opportunities in targeted focus areas.
- Assist with the tracking and reporting of the value delivered from the deals.
- Set up, manage and monitor the progress of projects, including determining resources required, setting and communicating goals, collaborating with stakeholders, managing change and facilitating and tracking the outcome.
- Organize, support, and facilitate workshops, discussions and other interaction platforms to facilitate sharing and learning.
- Coordinate and prepare for deal reviews, partnerships meetings.
Who we are looking for
At a minimum you are:
- Comfortable operating in an ambiguous and uncertain environment.
- For an Analyst, a minimum 2 years of experience in investment roles in venture capital, private equity, corporate development, or buy-side advisory.
- Skilled in financial modeling and analysis.
- Experienced in developing investment theses based on market/trend analysis and target company positioning.
Preferably you possess:
- Experience of working with, or in, start-up / venture-backed businesses.
- Strong communication, organization and negotiation skills.
- Entrepreneurial traits such as tenacity, ambition, adaptability, and resiliency.
- Familiarity with the landscape and technology trends in consumer retail, agriculture & food distribution, health & wellness, anti-aging, education.
- Fluency in another asian language (Chinese, Bahasa Indonesia, Vietnamese,etc.)
Would be great if you have:
- Experience in fund operations and administration
- Experience in network and community building
