Grocery Logistics Singapore (GLS) a wholly owned subsidiary of FairPrice Group Supply Chain, is a well-established logistics player in the Fast Moving Consumers Goods (FMCG) segment, incorporated since January 1993. Other than being the key logistics provider for NTUC FairPrice and its subsidiaries, we had serviced the Dairy Farm Group, Royal Ahold Group (since exited from Singapore Markets) and many small supermarket chains since our establishment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The FairPrice Group Supply Chain Business Unit (FPG SC BU) or Grocery Logistics of Singapore Pte Ltd (GLS) is a key logistics service provider to NTUC FairPrice Group and external customers. Our services provided include inbound logistics, warehouse and fulfilment and last mile delivery to the stores, customers and B2C home delivery.
Job Purpose
You will be a key member to contribute towards the growth and delivery of the Supply Chain Development & Analytics department. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of warehouse operations, and expertise in managing complex automation projects. Adaptability, problem-solving abilities, and a focus on continuous improvement are also essential for success in this role. You must also ensure that the supply chain is aligned with the FPG overall business objective and that is capable of meeting customer demand.
Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive strategy for warehouse automation aligned with the Supply Chain goals, considering the unique requirements of ambient and cold storage facilities.
- Identify, evaluate, and select appropriate automation technologies (e.g., robotics, multi-shuttle, AGV, sortation etc.) that optimize operations and align with the allocated budget.
- Lead and oversee the implementation of automation solutions across multiple warehouses, ensuring seamless integration, minimal disruption to operations, and adherence to timelines and budgets. And Identify potential risks associated with automation implementation and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure business continuity.
- Work closely with various departments (operations, Tech, Finance, Industrial Engineer, Indirect Procurement) to gather requirements, and ensure alignment of automation solutions with overall business objectives. And ensure that all automation solutions comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols, maintaining a safe working environment for warehouse personnel and compliance with legal requirements.
- Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the performance of automated systems, continuously monitor operations, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. And develop training programs for warehouse staff to adapt to new automation systems and processes, facilitating a smooth transition and maximizing the benefits of automation.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in warehouse automation, fostering a culture of innovation and exploring opportunities for further enhancements.
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience working with warehouse automation technologies, such as robotics, automated storage systems, conveyor systems, WMS, and IoT devices, is highly valuable. Hands-on involvement in the implementation, maintenance, or optimization of automation systems in warehouse settings is particularly beneficial.
- Understanding of warehouse automation technologies and material handling equipment.
- Familiar with a wide range of warehouse automation technologies and their applications and have understanding of emerging trends and innovations in the field of warehouse automation.
- Aptitude for identifying operational inefficiencies and devising solutions to optimize automated processes, having a strong analytical mindset to assess performance metrics, troubleshoot issues, and make data-based recommendations for improvements.
- Strategic mindset to align warehouse automation initiatives with long-term business objectives.
- Capacity to anticipate future needs and trends in warehouse automation to drive proactive planning.
- Understanding of budgeting, cost analysis, and ROI calculations related to automation investments and have capability to optimize resource allocation to achieve maximum ROI on automation solutions.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, safety protocols, and compliance standards related to warehouse automation.
- Understanding of vendor selection processes, contract negotiations, and vendor relationship management in the context of automation solutions.
- Understanding of change management principles and training methodologies to facilitate the adoption of new automation technologies among warehouse staff.
Working Locations: GLS HQ Office (37 Joo Koon Circle) / FPG FFDC (7 Sunview Road). The role will also be required to travel locally to other distribution centres / offices.
