Senior Assistant Director, Research Management & Business Development

Established in 1981, the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) https://www.ntu.edu.sg/eee is one of the founding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University. Built on a culture of excellence, the School is renowned for its high academic standards and research. It is one of the largest EEE schools in the world, with more than 130 faculty members and an enrolment of more than 4,000, of which about 1,000 are graduate students.

We invite applications for the position of Assistant Director/Senior Assistant Director. Reporting to Associate Chair Research (ACR) in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), the incumbent shall provide leadership and is responsible for the planning, promotion, and strategic development of research collaborations with internal stakeholders and external partners including industry, institutions, and government agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic development with industry partners
  • Execute EEE’s strategy in industry engagement and development
  • Facilitate new initiatives in EEE in entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Provide strategic technical support to faculty on research proposals
  • Perform industry/technology/IP study
  • Prepare research proposals with faculty
  • Act as point of contact with government agencies and companies
  • Lead in other strategic College and School level proposals and communications

Requirements:

  • At least a Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in a senior management position, preferably from the tertiary education industry or relevant research industries. For a PhD degree holder, this working experience requirement can be mitigated.
  • Must have a good knowledge of Intellectual Property.
  • Have a proven track record of close working experience with multiple government agencies and companies or must be comfortable in approaching government agencies and companies.
  • Good knowledge of Intellectual Property and experience on Project Management in a R&D setting.
  • Excellent Writing Skills with some research technical experience.
  • Strategic Thinking and Analytical Skills.
  • Strong Leadership, Collaboration Skills, and Problem-Solving Skills.
