WHAT YOU WILL DO
Job scope:
- To autonomously organize, conduct, co-ordinate, and lead research project(s) and to perform all necessary experiments to design, develop or improve vaccines, vaccination strategies and veterinary products for tropical fish aquaculture.
- To ensure the fastest possible development of products whilst ensuring the quality standards and a high level of performance confidence of the product developed.
- To determine, in conjunction to research management, the lines and approaches for product development in his/her own field of expertise.
- To initiate new projects proposal and business cases
- To support transfer to production and registration of new products
- To function as study director or principal investigator for clinical studies
- To support lab operations when required
Responsibilities:
- Recognized as a technical expert and scientific contributor, functions as research leader for (multiple) projects.
- Plans, coordinates, and prioritizes activities of project team in view of priorities, resources, and overall efficiency.
- Maintains up to date with the scientific developments and literature within his/her expertise fields.
- Is or strives to become the company expert for the diseases and products he/she works on.
- Controls and is the main responsible for the progress of projects.
- Ensures project reporting through internal processes & higher management meetings.
- Performs and supervises experiments according to GLP.
- Is up to date with regulatory guidelines for the products and geographical areas he/she is developing products for, maintaining direct contact with Regulatory Affairs.
- Writes project proposals and timely suggests amendments to running projects to R&D management.
- Presents research results both internally and externally. As required, publishes and presents technical papers to external audiences; participates in creating and may author significant internal publications.
- Identifies potential intellectual property and takes steps to initiate evaluation of the potential.
- Contributes to project discussions within the R&D site and within Global R&D.
- Explores cross-discipline developments for application in his/her projects.
- Ensures compliance with Company, EHS, Quality and Regulatory guidelines.
- Proposes where possible improvements to facilitate or expedite the activities within the R&D group.
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE
Qualifications:
- PhD from a recognized university in the field of bacteriology, virology, or immunology, preferably involving the study of fish diseases.
- More than 5 years of relevant experience in a professional research environment
- Practical knowledge of bacteriology, virology, immunology, or vaccine development required.
- Thorough knowledge of fish biology, fish immunology and fish pathogens are advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and a team player.
- Excellent command of the English language, oral and written.
