Primary Purpose
Functions as a technical specialist in water / wastewater treatment process. Performs all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis independently. Broadens knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. Knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas, including digital water will be required.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Detailed design of process systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, including screening equipment, physical-chemical treatment plants, biological treatment plants, blower equipment, odour control plants, disinfection plants, sludge treatment plants, desalination process, etc.
- Detailed design of ancillary systems including chemical feed systems, mechanical ventilation systems, and drainage systems
- Preparation of Process Flow Diagrams and P&IDs
- General Arrangement and equipment layout drawings
- Preparation of process equipment specifications
- Review and evaluation of vendor submissions
- Coordination with other disciplines e.g. civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, building services, instrumentation & control designers and digital water specialists
- Able to lead meetings, HAZOP, discussions with clients, contractors and vendors
- Provide engineering support for bids & proposals
- Prepare testing and commissioning plans
- Leading Process Testing & Commissioning
- Lead and guide a team of process Engineers and carry out QA/QC of their designs
- Keeping abreast with latest development in water treatment technology and suitably applies in the design
Requirements
Candidate shall have minimum of 15 years’ experience in the process design of water / wastewater treatment (municipal and industrial) with the following attributes:
- Degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering
- Expertise in water / wastewater treatment process modeling and optimization (including biological treatment)
- Proficient in BioWin/GPS-X/SUMO or other wastewater modelling software
- Possess knowledge of wastewater treatment processes such as Activated Sludge, SBR, MBR & MBBR/IFAS
- Experience in preparing PFDs/P&IDs and specifications for procurement of water and wastewater process equipment
- Proven ability to manage diverse and large scale water projects, prioritize tasks, effectively
- Utilize available resources and ensure timely completion of projects
- Proficient in written and oral communication with good interpersonal skills
