Research Engineer (Polymer Processing-Injection Moulding/Mechanical CAD Design)

The Polymer and Composite Processing Group is inviting applications for a Research Engineer position in Injection Moulding/Mechanical CAD Design. In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the product redesign for aircraft cabin interior components and engage in process development and innovation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Prepare 2D & 3D CAD drawings for component and mould.
  • Conduct process development and Design of Experiment for injection moulding
  • Perform injection moulding, product quality control and laboratory tests, to ensure timely production order delivery.
  • Conduct material characterization, quotation sourcing, procurement for project materials • Conduct part failure analysis and FE simulations as required for product redesign and improvement projects.
  • Prepare presentation and reports, draft of project proposals and risk assessment/ safe work procedure documents.
  • Maintain accurate records of production work orders, laboratory data, methods, results and CAD drawings.
  • Support the innovation and development of other polymer process technologies.

JOB REQUIREMENT


• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• Proficiency in using CAD software with at least 1 year experience in mechanical design.
• Comfortable with handling heavy equipment operations, conduct physical experiment work and process troubleshooting.
• Prior hands-on experience in polymeric material processing, specifically in injection moulding or melt-flow processing, will be highly advantageous.
• Strong willingness to acquire new knowledge and skills, including material testing, design of jigs for part testing, Singapore Airworthiness Regulation requirements, etc.
• Exemplary attention to detail and technically inclined towards process and laboratory work
• Comfortable with customer/vendor interactions and adept in handling project negotiations
• (optional) Basic knowledge in finite element structural modelling or any experience in process simulation.
