- You will perform a wide variety of diagnostic tests on patient specimens and report the results of the tests according to established protocols in the Haematology Section of the Department of Laboratory Medicine, to help clinicians diagnose, treat diseases, and monitor therapy.
- You will also perform receiving and sorting of specimens, assessing suitability of specimens for testing, data entry of test requests, and rejection of specimens that are unsuitable for testing.
- You will participate in quality assurance and quality control programmes in the Section, assist in phlebotomy for inpatients, assist in providing on-the-bench training for new staff and attachment students, assist in initiatives to review and improve processes within the Section to achieve organisational goals, and supports the Section Leader in operational and administrative matters.
- You will also be expected to perform procedures and tests in the specialist outpatient clinics and inpatient wards.
Requirements
- Preferably Bachelor's Degree and above in Laboratory Medicine, Clinical Haematology, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or any other equivalent qualification.
