RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensuring the proper use of the patient immobilisation / repositioning system and fabricating or preparing them appropriately for proton therapy
- Performing the initial CT simulation of the patient and generating the imaging data appropriate for the ARIA system as part of treatment planning, under the supervision of the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist
- Implementing and delivering the treatment in accordance with the relevant proton therapy treatment plan and under the supervision of the Radiation Oncologist and the Medical Physicist
- Ensuring the patient is prepared for treatment
- Acquiring periodic verification images for review
- Performing periodic evaluation of the stability and ongoing reproducibility of the immobilisation and patient positioning system and reporting inconsistencies immediately to the Radiation Oncologist and the Medical Physicist.
- Explain treatment plans to the patient and answer questions about treatment following radiation oncologist.
- To operate the radiation therapy machine and other supportive equipment following the radiation safety protocol.
- Examine machines to make sure they are safe and working correctly.
- Check computer programs to make sure the machine will give the correct dose of radiation to the appropriate area of the patient's body.
- Monitor the patient to check for unusual reactions to the treatment.
- Keep detailed records of treatment.
- Any other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor degree in Science (Radiation Therapy) or equivalent
- At least 2 years of relevant working experience
- License to practice radiation therapy
- Attention to detail and ability to master and troubleshoot technical machinery
- compassionate and understanding with anxious patients and family
- Ability to help adjust or shift elderly or disabled patients
- Ability to maintain professionalism while working with sick patient
