Finance Assistant

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Finance Assistant to join our finance team. The Finance Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the organization. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of finance and accounting principles. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the field of finance while contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Entry: Accurately record financial transactions into the accounting software, including invoices, expenses, and journal entries.
  2. Invoice Processing: Assist in processing invoices, verifying supporting documentation, and ensuring timely payments to vendors.
  3. Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded in the financial records.
  4. Expense Reporting: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  5. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Assist in managing accounts payable and receivable functions, including tracking outstanding payments and following up with clients or vendors as necessary.
  6. Financial Record Maintenance: Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, including filing and archiving of documents.
  7. Assist with Month-End Close: Support the finance team in preparing financial reports and statements for month-end and year-end close processes.
  8. Financial Analysis: Assist in preparing basic financial reports and analysis as requested by senior finance staff as well as Payroll.
  9. Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  10. Communication: Collaborate with other departments and external stakeholders to resolve financial queries and issues.
  11. Administrative Tasks: Provide general administrative support to the finance department, such as answering phones, handling mail, and managing office supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (or currently pursuing a degree in finance/accounting).
  • Basic understanding of finance and accounting principles and payroll.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous finance or accounting experience is a plus but not required.
