Lead Quality Engineer (NPI)

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform audits on Repair Source Substantiation (RSS) packages to verify repair characteristic accountability
  • Review RSS audit results to identify trends and coordinate continuous improvement plans to improve NPI quality and first time yield.
  • Develop quality system procedures for NPI process to ensure accuracy, compliance and consistency of NPIs delivered by Engineering team.
  • Track and monitor post introduction NPIs for quality issues and drive Engineering/Shop for follow up improvements.
  • Act as a focal point for all NPI-related queries and clarifications about Quality/regulatory requirements.
  • Support conduct of shop internal audit plan as necessary.
  • Drive and promote Quality culture and participate in EHS and other shop initiatives as necessary.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant aerospace experience in repair/manufacturing or a quality assurance role
  • Knowledge of general aviation legislation and quality systems (ISO9001/AS9100)
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Basic knowledge of PC software (Microsoft Office)

Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of repair/manufacturing fundamentals
  • Holds a recognized Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma quality concepts and tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing special processes (heat treat, welding, shot peening, coating, chemical processes, non-conventional machining)
  • Knowledge of RCCA/HF techniques
  • Good initiative and analytical skills
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
